Next Steps

As we look ahead at next steps for Colorado’s Power Pathway:

  • Construction is underway for Segments 2 and 3. Please see the Construction page for more detail on construction status.
  • The county land use permitting process is underway for Segments 1, 4 and 5. There will be additional opportunities for public input during the land use permit process in each jurisdiction, including public hearings held by the counties or other local government agency.
  • Project representatives are reaching out to individual landowners to discuss the preferred transmission line route and easements.

Updates will be posted as permitting and construction progress; please check back for the most up to date information.

October 2023 Elbert County Community Meetings

Xcel Energy hosted two community meetings to collect comments and concerns about Colorado’s Power Pathway in Elbert County. Meeting materials are available in our library.

August 2022 Kiowa County Community Meeting

Xcel Energy recently held a community meeting to provide information about the Kiowa County 1041 permit application process and Project facilities proposed in the county. Meeting materials are available in our library.

Summer 2022 Segment 5 Eastern Review Area Public Open Houses

Xcel Energy hosted two Segment 5 Eastern Review Area public open houses to gather feedback on potential transmission line routes. Meeting materials are available in our library.

Spring 2022 Segment 5 Public Open Houses

Xcel Energy hosted four Segment 5 public open houses to gather feedback on revised transmission line routes and substation site locations. Meeting materials are available in our library.

Winter 2022 Public Open Houses

Xcel Energy hosted 15 public open houses in winter 2022 to provide a routing update, present revised transmission line route options and substation locations and gather feedback. Meeting materials are available in our library.

September 2021 Virtual Routing & Siting Town Halls

Xcel Energy hosted two virtual town halls on Sept. 23, 2021, to provide information about the progress being made on Colorado’s Power Pathway, including the development of focus areas for identification of transmission line routes and substation sites.
