Winter 2022 Public Open Houses

Xcel Energy continues to make progress identifying potential locations for Colorado’s Power Pathway. Please join us at one of our upcoming in-person public open houses to provide input about our revised transmission line routes and substation site options. Project staff will be available to provide information about transmission line routing activities and answer questions about the new transmission line project, including the overall timeline, route options, construction processes and topics related to easements and right-of-way. We want to hear from you about this important project and any issues we should consider in your area.

Visit our Events page to view the full meeting schedule. No formal presentation is planned, so please attend at any time during the open house. If you are unable to attend, meeting materials and an electronic comment form will be available on our website.

To request translation services, please call 855-858-9037 or send us an email at least one week in advance of the meeting.

Note about COVID-19: If local, state or corporate guidance prevents in-person meetings or affects venue capacity, these open houses may be rescheduled or moved to an online format. Check our website for up-to-date information or call the project hotline at 855-858-9037.

Our interactive project map has been updated with revised project focus areas and substation siting areas, areas where the preferred transmission line route and substation sites could be located. Additional focus area revisions may be posted in the coming weeks; please check back for the most up-to-date information.

The preliminary transmission line links have also been updated to reflect our latest routing analysis. Some links have been removed from consideration and are depicted on the interactive map as purple lines. Additional link updates for Segments 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 will be posted on Jan.  21. Link updates for Segment 5 will be posted in mid-February.

Next Steps

After the conclusion of open houses in early March:

  • We will determine the need for additional public meetings in segments where the preferred transmission line route has not been identified.
  • Link-specific feedback will continue being incorporated into the routing process.
  • Engineering design work will start in segments where the preferred transmission line route has been identified.
  • The county land use permitting process will start for Segments 2 and 3. Additional public input opportunities will take place at the county level during public hearings for the land use permit in each jurisdiction.
  • Project representatives will reach out to individual landowners as the routing process progresses to discuss preferred transmission line routes and easements.
